Reviews of “Uprisings in Eighteenth-Century Britain”

My monograph “Uprisings in Eighteenth-Century Britain” has been reviewed by Darren S. Layne for the Scottish Historical Review, a leading journal in the field of Scottish historical studies. Noting that the book does not fit into traditional historiography because of its focus on sociological concepts and a thematic rather than chronological structure, Layne points out that some arguments could have been better supported by evidence from the sources but appreciates how the collected (meta)data were treated and shared on Github:

In summary, Uprisings is an incredibly meaty piece of scholarship condensed into a remarkably thin tome, constituting work that demands close scrutiny and perhaps a bit of decoding from its readers. Despite some unwieldy results from arbitrarily crossing the disciplinary streams, it is a thoroughly impressive body of research and adds a valuable framework of constitutional sociology to the historical record.

Subscribers to the Scottish Historical Review can access the review via Edinburgh University Press, others may want to download it on Academia.edu
